Taco Seasoning
In a SHTF scenario, the same old food day in and day out gets real old real soon. Spices will come to save the day!
Rabbits, squirrels, deer, any game animals will provide the meat, and you can add a nice spicy Taco mix to them to greatly enhance the flavor and make life much more enjoyable.
I make a Taco seasoning - we add it to ground beef and ground turkey. No preservatives, no chemicals, just pure ingredients that are put up in a pint canning jar, vacuum sealed, and will last a long time till needed.
Here's the recipe. Note: tbsp = Tablespoon, tsp = teaspoon
Chili Powder - 8 tbsp
Garlic Powder - 2 tsp
Onion Powder - 2 tsp
Red Pepper Flakes (pizza pepper) - 2 tsp
Oregano - 2 tsp
Paprika - 4 tsp
Cumin - 12 tsp or 4 tbsp
Kosher or Non-Iodized salt - 8 tsp
Black Pepper - 8 tsp.
Combine all the above and mix thorougly. Be sure to break up any lumps or clumps. Spoon this into a pint canning jar, add an oxygen absorber and vacuum seal.
You can also make this up and spoon into 4 oz canning jars so that the quantity is less when the jar is opened.
Nice and fragrant, not too spicy and it makes your meal so much more enjoyable.
Have fun!
